Coronavirus: Update as of 24/3/2020

Obviously there has been a lot of information sent out over the past few days with regard to COVID 19 and we would like to clarify the position with regards to children coming into school.
Following Boris Johnson's address to the nation yesterday evening it is clear that the vast majority of people, who are not critical to the response to COVID 19, should stay at home. For some this means losing income and it will clearly have a huge impact on people's lives and livelihoods. For some families there has already been loss and we know that you will be thinking of those families across the country who have lost a loved one.
The school will remain open for the foreseeable future, until we are told otherwise, with staff coming in at risk to both themselves and their families. We would ask that you follow government guidance and, even if you are a keyworker, if it at all possible for your child(ren) to remain at home then they should do so. On 19th March(the latest guidance we have) the DfE wrote:

Parents whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response include those who work in health and social care and in other key sectors (guidance from 19th March outlines who these people may be but it changes all the time so please check daily). Many parents working in these sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. And every child who can be safely cared for at home should be.
If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.

We passed this onto you the following day (20th March). As a school we must ascertain who can, and cannot, provide support for children at home because home is the safest place for them. Please work with us on this.
