Pupil Premium

"Pupil Premium" is a sum of money paid annually to schools for every pupil who is eligible for Free School Meals (FSMs) or has been eligible in the past 6 years.

The Department for Education do not know which children are eligible for FSMs unless their parents apply successfully for FSM funding. Applying for FSMs does not mean that your child has to have school dinners but it does mean that the school will receive Pupil Premium funding for your child if you successfully apply.

Please click here to see if your child(ren) may be eligible. If you would like some support to see if you will qualify, please speak to any of the ladies in the school office who will happily assist you.

The aims of the PP funding

Everyone at Ravenswood Primary School is committed to ensuring our children achieve not only the best academic outcomes possible, but also meeting their pastoral and social needs while they attend our school. We are committed to 'narrowing the gap' between vulnerable pupils and their peers and the use of the PP funding forms a vital part of this process.

We will use the PP funding for:

  • Facilitating pupils’ access to education
  • Facilitating pupils’ access to the curriculum
  • Alternative support and intervention within the school

Reporting on PP funding

The Governing body at Ravenswood CP School have the responsibility to explain how the pupil premium funding has been spent throughout the school each year. The PPG lead will submit termly reports to the Governing body to keep them appraised of the progress.

At the end of the academic year, the final report will detail the attainment and progress of pupils who are covered by the premium and the intervention that has been supported by the additional funding. Reports will also detail the progress made towards narrowing the gap which will be supported by reported data and academic progress.
